Howdy and welcome to my little corner of the web. I am a studio, location and event photographer located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
What I'm up to...
"Photography is only intuition, a perpetual interrogation – everything except a stage set." - Henri Cartier-Bresson
I just finished shooting and editing images from my daughter's 9th dance concert! As a dance mom I spend a lot of time sitting in the dark with my eye glued to the view finder. All of that time adds up to skill and experience when it comes to shooting dance. And I have my beautiful dancer to thank for it!
An Obsession with History
Why Bostick & Sullivan gets all my money.
As a photo major I was required to take a class on the history of photography. Little did I know it would spark an interest in what we consider today to be antiquated and outdated photo processes. I followed that class up with one on alternative photographic processes and I was hooked.
Historical and alternative photographic processes go back to the basic chemistry of photography. Back to a time when photographers were as much scientists and inventors as artists. I love these processes because they allow me to take a plain sheet of paper, add some salt and silver, and turn it into a photograph.
"Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still." -Dorthea Lange
I live in the middle of the DFW metroplex with my husband, two kids, five cats and two ferocious attack dogs. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BFA in Art. My studies focused on studio photography, darkroom processes and historical photographic processes. I've spent a little more than thirty years with a camera in my hands and have no plans to stop anytime soon. On school days you can find me teaching art, music and technology in Dallas.
